rhoda - artist in residence

a not so recent graduate with my B.S. in Sociology,
i’ve worked the past decade in the not for profit
sector. this pays the bills and allows me the luxury
of only working three days a week (although they do
be three long days.) my employer is Penn-Mar Org., a
company dedicated to the residential and vocational
needs of people with developmental disabilities.
check out the company website on my links page.

the rest of my week is spent toiling in my basement
“studio.” at present I’m focusing my energies on
glass beads, but i have my sights aimed on more
sculptural work. years ago i took a glassblowing
course and fell in love immediately. in a world
without financial constraints i would have a full
tilt boogie glass blowing venture, but for now i’m
content with my basement bench torch.

i first got into glass some 10 years ago when my
mother and i set up a stained glass workspace in the
basement. a few years later we took a class at
Ric-O-Che Stained Glass in Jacobus, PA and our hobby
took off. i prefer to work in prairie styles and
geometric design, and i tend toward 3D design (i.e.
Lamps, Moravian stars, boxes…) i even have a pair
of glass dragon wings i made to wear to the
Spoutwood Farm Fairie Festival a few years back.

i enjoy all artistic endeavors. i have dabbled in
pearl inlay, photography, batik, origami, and chain
mail just to name a few. hope you enjoy our site; we’
d love to hear your questions, comments, and
suggestions.

jes- web designer, moral support, heart-of-gold
lackey

jes is a fairly recent graduate in the field of
Gerontology. she is also employed by Penn-Mar Org.,
however she is working the ranks and has entered the
grown up world of middle management. “baby,” as many
people refer to her due to the fact that she is a
chronologically challenged babe of 25,is the
technophile wizard behind our website. almost makes
the laptop and all the expensive gadgets I’ve bought
her worthwhile. artistic endeavors are my
undertaking; the logistics of making anything happen
with those endeavors, beyond gathering dust, i lay
in her lap and she works her magic.

holly- promoter, jeweler, bead thief

maternity nurse by trade, holly is the mother in
residence of our operation.  she sings our praises
and sells our wares.  she also is a creative mind in
our upstart jewelry making enterprise.  she believes
in this operation and is pushing us to new heights.
but watch out...she'll claim all the beads before
you buy 'em.
